Millions of people are making the transition from incandescent light bulbs to LED technology. LED light bulbs are the new industry standar for affordable, environmentally sustainable, and energy efficient lighting systems available for business and home use. While conventional incandescent and fluorescent light bulbs use toxic chemicals and high heat sources to emit light, LEDs use small semiconductor capsules to produce a more efficient and less costly alternative to traditional bulbs.
INCANDESCENT BULBS ARE NOW OUTLAWED!
The United States government has now made it illegal to manufacture 40 and 60 watt incandescent light bulbs. Once the supply of incandescent bulbs is gone, people will be forced to switch to LED and fluorescent lighting. While fluorescent bulbs use 75 percent less energy than incandescent lighting, they still release toxic chemicals into the atmosphere and emit ultraviolet rays. LEDs do NOT contain mercury like fluorescent bulbs and they do NOT give off ultraviolet rays.
ELIMINATE THE COST, INCONVENIENCE AND SAFETY PROBLEMS OF ROUTINELY REPLACING OTHER BULBS THAT BURN OUT QUICKLY
LEDs routinely last for 20,000 to 50,000 hours compared to the 6,000 to 15,000 hours of compact fluorescents and 1,000 to 3,000 hours for incandescent bulbs. This means a home or business owner will not have to replace their LED light bulbs for approximately 20 years! Not only will LEDs save money on energy bills, but LED owners will also save money by NOT having to buy replacement bulbs, shut down operations to get at the lighting, or pay for an electrician to replace the bulb.
THEY’RE ENVIRONMENT FRIENDLY & SAFE
LED bulbs are one of the most promising lighting technologies of the 21st century. A new US Department of Energy (DOE) report finds that LED lamps have a substantially lower environmental impact than incandescent lighting and fluorescent lamps. Because LED bulbs last 10 to 15 times longer than traditional incandescent bulbs, fewer lamps have to be produced, packaged, transported and sold in retail stores, and fewer have to be thrown into our landfills. Both traditional and compact fluorescent bulbs contain mercury. Toxic mercury is released when these fragile bulbs are broken in the home or place of business potentially putting family members, employees, and customers at risk. When used bulbs are sent to landfills, toxic mercury contaminates soil and can have detrimental effects on the environment. An incandescent bulb does not contain mercury, but the coal fired power plants used to produce incandescent bulbs are the number one source of mercury pollution on the planet. LEDs do NOT contain any mercury or toxic chemicals making them a much safer lighting choice.
THEIR ENERGY EFFICIENCY SAVES TONS OF MONEY
Why are LEDs so much more energy efficient than incandescent and fluorescent light bulbs? When it comes to lighting, lumens per watt is the industry standard for measuring lighting efficiency. Lumens are the measure of how much brightness is output by a bulb. LED bulbs require much less wattage (electrical power) to create their brightness than CFL or Incandescent light bulbs, which is why LEDs are much more energy efficient and have longer life spans than any other bulb. Most LEDs only consume between 2 and 17 watts of electricity. As a result, LED bulbs generally save 50-80% of electricity costs compared to the traditional incandescent and fluorescent bulbs.
